S&T Training Centre is located at Podanur, popularly known as poor man’s Ooty due to its cool and pleasant climate throughout the year.
Located in the shadow of Western Ghats, straight in the Palghat gap, Podanur is blessed with cool breeze that blows through this narrow mountain pass.
Located in an atmosphere facilitating learning, this training
centre is the Zonal training centre as S&T department of Southern and South Western Railway
and one among the main training centres of Indian Railway catering to the training needs of
Group C and D of Signal and Telecommunication Department. This training centre is conducting
various training courses like Mandatory, Foundation , Initial, Refresher and Equipment courses
for technicians of Signal and Telecommunication department. Supervisory courses include
‘Initial courses for promotional JE’s of 6 weeks duration and ‘Modular courses’ of one week
duration. One day courses on various ‘Signal and Telecom gadgets’ as well as OEM training are
also being conducted on demand basis for officers,supervisors and technicians.
